How to resolve corrupted Object repository issue – Information cannot be retrieved for the selected test object

Recently I faced an issue with the UFT OR, where I was unable to update the OR and as soon as, I am adding any object to the OR, all of the properties of other objects are throwing this error “Information cannot be retrieved for the selected test object”

It was very annoying, because a lot of effort was spent to create this repository and now, it just stopped working.

Below are the steps I followed for the resolution of this issue.

  1. Open the OR in the object repository manager.
  2. Click on file->Export to XML. Save this xml file on the computer.

  3. Close the object repository manager and open it again.
  4. Click on File->Import from xml and import the XML you have just created.

  5. Click on File->Save as to save this imported data as .tsr file.
  6. Open the object repository comparison tool (Tools-> Object repository Comparison tool) and compare the new and the old repository. They should be same.

This newly create OR should resolve the issues.

Let me know, if you have any questions.

  1. Hi I created the new OR with the objects added from the corrupted OR. We maintain the test cases in QC and we have to define the new OR for each test case which would be tedious. Do you have any work around. Im trying with run time OR association but let me know for any other work arounds.
